SCAD Projects

Alright, I haven’t posted anything in FOREVER, so here goes.
Here are some projects that I’m working on, complete with descriptions and pictures!

Vector and Raster Graphics:
Redesign a local restaurant’s image. Consists of creating a new logo, menu, coasters, and t-shirts. I decided to choose Howard’s BBQ in beautiful Lillington, NC. Their current logo is pretty awful. Their food is, Incredible to say the least. One rule that I have heard, and I believe to be true, is that the crappier the sign, the better the BBQ. As you can tell, from the picture, that the BBQ must be pretty awesome.

You see? There’s nothing distinguishable about the logo, and there’s nothing that says, “HEY! This is a BBQ place!” So, that is why I decided to choose Howard’s. The logo is due on Monday, so I’ll post the final version next week, but here are some ROUGHS.
So, don’t judge me.

Motion Concepts:
We have to create a 30-second animation. We are given a random season and color. I was given Red and Summer. So, I decided to create a narrative with a 50’s art style. So here’s a still, just as a teaser. The final version is due Monday, so I’ll post the FINAL version of this project sometime next week along with the Howard’s logo.

DVD Production:
This class is for learning how to make real authentic DVDs. Not any of that iDVD with the apple logo in the corner crap, FOR REAL, LEGIT DVDs.
For the second project, we are assigned to make a DVD for our own portfolio, so here is a still from my main menu. Each arrow is going to be a button, leading to sub-menus. I am also going to add my name on there somewhere.

So, there are my projects. I’ll post the FINAL versions next week.
I’m gonna start blogging more often.

You may not know this, but I do stand-up comedy sometimes. Here’s one I did at our Sr. High’s Fall retreat last year. Enjoy. :)

Jobs and Wakeboarding

Alright, so the truth is, even though I haven’t gotten a job yet, (and I’m already past the halfway point of Summer) this Summer has been pretty cool. I think that’s why it’s been a good Summer, even though I got no money. (except from the $40/week I get from mowing the grass)

I’ve applied to allot of places: Apple store, Best Buy, Digital Video Arts, Easy Edit Video, Sign-A-Rama, Fast Signs, etc. Even Pizza Hut. I mean, I love that place, but I couldnt ever work there.

Even my trusty company Chick-fil-A rejected me due to the massive amount of employees. I heard that they took in some new faces, and crammed WAY too many people into the CFA team. I don’t understand why they won’t let me on the team again- I mean, I’m STILL on the playroll somehow, I STILL have 4 years of CFA experience, and I STILL somehow have my complete uniform. Maybe I just suck. ANYWHO…

Yet amoungst these series of Unfortunate Events, there seems to be a light seeping through the dark fog of unemployment. This past week, I created a personal demo reel, which shows very small snippets of my work in a 2-3 minute video. My dad took one of the DVDs and showed it to his pastor. (my parents go to a different church than I do) He really liked it and said that they happen to have a really nice Final Cut Computer Suite and not many people in the church know how to use it. And guess knows how to? ME!!! So, I’m meeting up with him on Tuesday, so hopefully I’ll get the job, and hopefully they’ll pay me SOMETHING… I mean, it’d be cool to do that, but it’d be REALLY cool to get paid for it. So, pray for me.

So I’ve been hanging out mainly, looking for a job, and doing a FCCJ (Florida Community College of Jville) online math class thats kickin my butt.

Also, I wakeboarded for the first time EVER today. Woot! I haven’t even learned how to water ski yet. That makes me (somewhat) cooler. I’ve snow skiied many, many times before, but never water skiied. Which remindes me, when I was in first grade, a had a shirt that said “Ski Hard.” Some kid went up to me and said, “That’s not how you spell SKY.” In response to his stupid remark, I said, “It’s ski, stupid.” He responded with, “Oh, haha.” It was definatly one of those embarassed laughs. Not only did he probably feel dumb for thinking it was mispelled for sky, but also for thinking that someone would wear a shirt that said, “Sky Hard.”

Classes Out, a Wedding, and meeting Raquel

So, schools been out since this past Thursday. Praise God. Feels good to be out, even though everyone else in Jacksonville has been out for a month. Anywho, lets get to other stuffs.

This weekend has been kinda crazy. We left SCAD on Thurs night, and got back pretty late. The following day I helped my mom prepare the rehersal dinner room for our family friend’s wedding, which I then went to the rehersal. Daniel (the guy getting married, not me) invited me to be a scripture reader during the ceremony, so I had the honor to read the first half of 1 Cor. 13 during the wedding on Saturday. I was really nervous, thinking I’d screw up, but I didn’t, and everyone said I did a great job. So, it felt good.

Now, today me and the fam (including my brother Nathan and wifey Lauren -they came to Jville for the wedding) went to church and came back home. I then met up with a really cool girl who loves RhettandLink, and is a main member of the Kommunity: Raquel. It was my fourth time meeting someone from the internet, and I still think it’s SO weird. Its really guite a surreal feeling. You know allot about a person, but you don’t really ‘know’ them.

Me and Raquel

We met up at the Jville St. John’s Town Center. Her parents were there of coarse - cause you know how people from the internet are, haha. Her little sister Gabby - I know her from a few of Raquels YT videos, was there too. We went to Crisper’s - which is a panera-like place for lunch, walked to the Apple store, which she has never been to one - so she was really excited. And then to starbucks. But then they had to leave to get to a wedding. So we said our goodbyes. it was funny- I bought her a Jville Starbucks mug- my dad gave RhettandLink two of the same mugs when we first them in Lillington, to remember us by. So now I made it a tradition to give everyone I meet on the internet a Jville mug. So, if you ever want one, just make arrangements

Anywho, she came up from Miami to go to a friend’s wedding, but she really came up to hang out. JK.

So, what’s next? leaving for Maryland tomorrow mornin. for a week. post after then.
until then, peace.

I know it’s late, but here’s a video to help commemorate Memorial Day. Enjoy :)
